ABOUT ULICIA

I live and work in North Yorkshire, UK with my family and I enjoy creating Abstract Art. I am self-taught artist and only started painting in my late 40's. Although it seems late in life to take up painting, the timing seemed just right. So one day, a few years ago, I bought some acrylic paints and a paintbrush and started painting just for kicks. Somehow it resurrected the fun and freedom that I remembered when I was at school doing Art A level and I soon discovered that I still had the talent to carry on painting as people loved what I do. As well as Property Development, my day job, I now have my own art studio and I paint whenever I can!
I love thick texture and mixing large amounts of colours in acrylics. As well as brushes, I tend to use palette knives, sponges and anything else that happens to be lying about to create my works! I love creating several layers and mark making at every opportunity. I think the more layers and marks a picture has, the more history and depth of colour you will achieve. Sometimes I will do 2-3 layers before I settle into the final piece and each layer is such fun to create because you can be optimistic and confident when throwing down these layers and marks knowing that most of it will be covered up in the final stages and you never know what will appear!
I find painting very therapeutic and I love going to my studio where I can switch off from my busy day job of a Property Developer and Interior Designer and create my art. I am in no hurry to finish a painting and I just paint when the mood takes me.
I post one or two of my paintings on Instagram on my uliciaedwards page but if you have any enquires, please direct them to my e mail address, ulicia@geyp.co.uk. Most of my finished works are on my website www.uliciaedwards.co.uk when I get a minute to put them on, but I have a handful of new ones in my studio most of the time and I can always send photos of them if you are interested.
Thank you
